1 - Altercation at Bret Weinstein's Class (5/23)

2 - Mob Confronts President (5/23) (that meeting is being used to interview new vice president - this is more important) I think it might be a good idea for us to disrupt other classes. bozo locks self in office. mass of people calling police."we have all met in meetings before" gives consent to have live. "i don't really care about consent" we need circles cause that's what keeps us organized. for us to not exert so much energy. so when we call the police they don't wanna come but when white people call the police they wanna come what kind of shit is that. if you don't come to us I'm gonna come to you. we had bret cornered, all open doors, etc. he tried to leave at first, he was protected by his students. white students used as a blockade. not true bret was surrounded and threatened. we went to the 4th floor. we did block him at first, he was trying to leave. we had  a conversation with him, whatever a conversaton is. when people feel threatened for tyring to take their power back. that is silencing. "lot of lies in the email, it was over mid-2am) labeled with anxiety...
we called stacy brown, that's the roaches name, she refuses to come, keep calling police. what if we had a real emergency. trying to mace us in the eyes.
any black folks that need water
our patens are paying for this...
all parents have my number - can they get through RIGHT NOW?

3 - (5/23) president told right now to solve these problems, told not to respond, just to enact changes.
constant threat as students. (like 20 studetns in the corner, maybe 100 total .wendy is locked in her office. if you don't want this to continue demand your staff to come up here. What happened at whitman george? we can't google it but we know it exists.
nothing happened at whitman, I don't know what you're referring to.
you can't track a cover-up
drop the charges chants
do you care about the students do you care about our safety?
so why are the police trying to mace us for telling bret he needs to apologize
it's not the fact that they maced us, it's that they brought mace
spoke to AG office, do I have authority to change the outcome of that proceeding?
AG said I have no legal authority to intervene.
The initial charges, let's talk about that later. - yelling. NOW.
your bullshit is so damn old. you act like you have no power at all.

los angeles girl projecting bullshit. put your hand down.
okay my hands are down, where were we
well that says a lot to me that you already forgot.
gonna take this space for you to call stacy brown and have her come here.
police services doors are locked.
*handed out rest fo flyers*
who is this kid, I don't think someone that steals from women of color, he should get the fuck out of here.
someone sitting in solidartity here. - you can make an apology and do something good and I probably wouldn't be wrecking your social life.
sitting on the ground doing homework.
just goes and dows homework here.
9:30 - peaceful protests against bret.
accuse him of coming out to block students (more likely intercept disruption to his class)
invited them in. students read from "statement"? wanted to interrupt class
asked wientstein to take responsibility. Studetns did not threaten him in any harmful way.
weinstein began filimg? but was contesting rights to film him?
questioned him, bret defended himself.
accused him of having students listen to him but he wanted to engage in discourse.
during this bret students defended him.
Officer Timothy Odo arrives, breaks through blockade of white students. Stacy Brown as well, group claims black people unfairly targeted.
OPD shows up. Now the students are in fear from their life.
White allies delegated to scout for police.
"This is the active and only true narrative of today's events." #exposeevergreen
add something - budget that services is getting - clear, we were accosted by police after we had finished protesting. this was a peaceful demonstration (no cheers)
-he was acting shady walking away and gatehring his stuff-
some professors are letting their student comes. a lot of professors are mad.
students have a right to rebel
if you're white and sitting down give your seat up for a person of color.
we protected ourselves. trying to explain why they aren't in the wrong
guy in charge of bret - most important adcademic freedom. "we don't want to hear that"

Michael Paros kicked her out (medschool student)
everyone in this room is going to file an OCR claim.
white students or colored students (all students)
students claim they are being oppressed in response to every single thing
claims university panders to white students.
institutional change is slow.
why do we have faculty that make students uncomfortable?
I have panic attacks because of this institution. -
demands of make change immediately.
I'm telling you nothing you have done has made change.
Your emails are full of lies.
Teachers emails asking for names of students?
what consequences to teachers face for making students feel unsafe?
I'm asking what are you doing right now?
"For saying the N word in private, for calling women whores? They get a workshop?"
Isn't our money paying for that workshop?
You gonna fire some people? Because you support racist faculty members. Say it.
Threatens ORC/OCR?
I'm making a lawsuit. Fuck it.
Cases like Mike Paros. Full credit based on personal feelings, why is it so hard to get your credit back.
Students need to have those conversations with faculty.
"All these white people" (mostly standing around watching the train wreck)
"Apparently we should be the teachers. Why can't you fire them and hire us?"
Apparently they called police backup, so white folks that are a barrier go back to being a barrier.
Brisges plan - asked stacy brown to come. she's willing to come unarmed.
i want to go to work with my people, the VP
your people is the fucking state you fascit. fuck you. fuck you george
work with VP and deans, sit in the ground in a cricle, we're gonna witness that.
we'll film your bullshit.
tell stacy she doesn't have to change, she can go get some sweatpants from the CRC
we have a call froma  mother who is concerned about their child.
everyone is here of their own volition, and that folks who want to depart can depart.
What are you talking about?
(lies, no you work for us, you work for us)
they are weaponizing motherhood in a way that they did not for black people earlier this year.
it is over, get off the mike.
george wants to go talk to his people, we need to have people in that room.
take one person from each ethnic background
I'm tired of white people talking about what black and bvrown people need
I'm just trying to respond
I need to record. I need to record.
I won't video it.
that'll be determined then.
I'm gonna be recording the meeting, they might discuss you guys.
4pm call later.
Are you babysitting wendy?
I guess I'm not going to work today

4 - following wendy?
Oh wait we had a party up here (old cafeteria)
need to go get my boyfriend and my puppy. set up cafeteria for meeting.
racehel
you have poer teh rest of us don't have.
waiting on stacy borwn.
i don't think it's fair we have to rpoject to you
work order for electronic media
in the absence of a mic

a - bret was not cornered, so no consequences, no reason
b - timothy odell pushes students, kicked them, smashed their faces
C - cuts off

5 - michael, intention by raising those names. accountable people in a circle
yes, whitney is not responsible, ken isn't responsible. michael zimmerman. cuts off

6 - Why is is you don't know shit.
laughs
don't laugh. these are our lives.how do you hold faculty accountable. to provots office.
only one provot, hen is provost. Is it all white?

7 - this is just one step. we will be here every day.

8 - clarify george needs to leave a 5:30, so yell as much as you want
clarify points and voice changes.
no charges filed against students
review and investigation
org against police brutality.
undocumented students? docket status. not collaborate with ICE.
curious why bret has't specifically been fired?
tenure applies so long as you don't harrass. why doesn't that apply for racial harassment.
accuses him of violating racially harassing students and faulty.
I cannot comment on any personal action.
Donald Trump's salute to white supremacy -
I have a solution, disavow white supremacy. Every single thing about this institution has to do with white supremacy. actively lead disavowing white supremacy.
email invited to damage --- what are you doing right now? I'm listening
you all call the police. email inviting us to once again be put in danger.
what are you gonna do right now?
I will go to work on this project, I will go to work in ensuring that our team that our officers are as anti-black, as anti-violence.... I apologize. I will commit to dealing with my own shit. My own racism. *shrug*
and I am a work in progress.
right now they're called incidents. I suggest you started calling them what they are which is hate crimes. dictionary.com.... hate crime definition.
classifies police action as hate crime.
do you want folks that don't want to be a part of mandatory training on racial violence?
instead of questions process of consent?
How about instead of asking for student input, you have student consent in the student code of conduct. how about instead of forusm this inherent patriarchial sessions where you listen to us, we just have agency over our codes. Or the code.
nobody should be able to (change the code) without democratic student consent.
student board that has veto power over the student code of conduct.
let me clarify, i can clarify you don't need to clarify
this 37 page document that has the signatures of everyone in student affairs.
and with 2 AG signatures was covered in declarative sentences about how fair and impartial and specific it was. and it also inlcuded very clear times for forums and forms you could fill out. and this all in the last 3 weeks of school where you expect us to give out consent. and I cut through that and make some of it transparent.
the clause that says obstructive or disruptive conduct - conduct that interferes with or impeded any activity that is authorized to occur on college property whether or not actually condcted or sponsored by the college is considered punishable by a disciplinary board. this is public property and that means the pro life that stand with pictures of dead babies are sanctioned to be on our campus, and it means that anything we do is criminalizable. this is in response to weeks of anti-black crime and also a child we haven't talked about... some contradictions about what you wanted to criminalize us for and what you could. so you changed the codes.
how do you not know the law? (fucking kids asking bullshit questions...)
sounds like a violation of constitutional rights.
my concern has never been addressed.
4wk ago walking univ wash campus, 30,k sqft
or state
around 12-15k sqft
largely diff buildings for diff cultural centers
recognize it's not possible here.
we have about 1500 sq ft. when we should have 2600 sq ft.
that's how large our diversity center.
some comittment of equity and diversity resources, that includes windows, real staff.
I don't want to go to the student activities board any more. Whatever the marginilized student is, they should be in control of those funds.
hiring comittee has such difficulty, why isn't racial sensitivyt part of that vetting process? (why can't they name these teachers?)
how will you make teachers go..
we can't train people we don't employ. as part of the vetting process.
where's the cop? Where's timothy o'dell?
This is not the place
This is th emost people we've ever had.
W'ere's stacy? make it a meme. *begin chanting stacy*
can you address her with questions?
"Community law" re-center women, none of thes elong-winded ass men
did someone have a question?
you have nothing to say.
what are you going to do about wendy's email?
ooficer o'dell said he doesn't blieve racism exists on thsi campus
the call that i received was that there was a facklty member that was trapped.
But we weren't in the room.
when we got there there was a very large number of students. (OUTSIDE)
blocking the doorway
at that point we did not know the circumstances. we tried asking several students, and tried to ask them what was going on.
Let her finish the lie.
y'all we know what happened. let them say their bullshit and then we'll call out their bullshit.
If you already have your mind made up, shutup!
COMMUNITY LOVE
stacy continues. the students didn't answer, officer o'dell did try to get threough the crowd, oh he smashed through it.
students were not responding to us. so they extracted.

when you first got this job you were gonna make a policy to make a community, so how come offer odell was throwing students out of the way and shoving them to get to only POC students. he didn't even try to stop and ask. he just proceeded to run toweards us. we were walking away.
you just said you had to pull him back.
you had to pull him back because he's out of control.
did we just do the investigation? I think we did it. (cheers)
remind everyone they are here to answer our demands. she's in charge of all this and never answers to anything.
70% of our students are low income and you're charging $20 for a parking pass?
we threatened so much danger why is he here?

8 - down the clocktower
i don't know what's happening, george called the cops.
no they'ree sending us to red square cause cops are coming.
you gonna go? you want to be in cuffs?
this is all for the protest this is all for the event where people are looking at it, participating in it.
This is intense with the furniture. white people blockading doors.
this is all security right now. Students are taking furniture and blocking the doors to stop police from coming inside.
security in the back.
Thank you rachel!
is tehre any way that I can get out I need to get out of here.
escorts guy out. kids all wearing black. rachel that's it over there.
need to look for sean/shawn (boyfriend?)
We need some more white bodies upstairs.
i got the keys. yelling. throwing.
don't need white people. "There's like totally nothing to see here"
thank you white people for coming to save us.
(what's he talking about from the crowd)
so moving on can we get ten or so white people to sit on the floor. protest organizers dismiss yelling guy and move on.
can I get a comment on what's going on right now? all going to longhouse
everyone, or peopel of color?
black and brown people are headed to the longhouse. I was told to stay by the doors.
black and brown people are be taken to the long house of their own accord
we don't want to make it too imbalanced in terms of security in the area.
get this to lawrence. they're upstairs
our () are not leaving georges office area
running security at georgres office.
police are not coming and don't have too many people
"did y'all hear wheat I just said?
so the priority si that they stay in that room. if they're not in that room y'all did something wrong. and someone need to go in that room and make sure there's no way out. 2nd priority is if the cops come we have to spread that info. we need people to keep eyes on things. most of the bodies. do the work without leaving this space. there aren't enough people in this spac. we need there to be a physical preence on thsi floor so they aren't leaving.
as far as im concerned, and I don't know who gave the order to blockade the building, that's on some anarchist something something, and I've gotten them to reassess that siutation.  (really?)
my concerns as a person, i can't speak for evryone.
talking about safety without student there. students need to be paid,
part of the structure wed afternoons so at least full time day students can attend the governance proceeding
don't you think it's supremacy ii's mostly white people? yes.
george goes to bathroom - crowd follows
hey ho ho chants start,
when you have a job you don't tell the boss you're not going to be there.
(girl speaking doesn't want to be filmed)
joe tougas standing in the background while chants happen.
video guy tells cops aren't coming, need people upstairs. speaks of relative calm.

9 - first part of meetin, elections of faculty member. agenda for faculty meetings. (skip to 10:50) (peter bohmer in attendance)

faculty speaking, the students are here, we need to listen to their voice. wehre's your body? sitting in a chair eating cake? I understand this fauclty thing is super important, that can happen another time and this really can't.
i move we suspend the agenda so we can lsiten to ()
students line up through class. mostly wearing black.
thank you for suspending this meeting, many of which I know...
crying, you're holding our future, whya ren't you there for us?
many time's were looking for support we're putting our bodies on the line.
community love call
press release: protest racist and anti-blackness  Naima records
olsen - police 2 black students, claims fo agression, unlowful interviews.
peaceful protesters were assaulted by timothy o'dell.
upset about criminalizing protest.
1pm students will rally at library. end statement,
just the fact that people were afraid of the cops being called, black and brown bodies, white faculty bodies would mean a lot right now.  spefically because the white fauclty have attacked black faculty.
naima speaks - Ive noticed when we have conflict the place that we go as faculty is into some sort of victim stance. as if our administration is to blame. and these students know where the power is which is why they're here. we've been sittnig on our asses for 40 years.
I have beter shit to do. Thisis my fay off. I don't come to fauclty any more because of all the racism.
this is the first I've heard of it the press release. Would it be okay if some of us alkwed over
I think faculty should sit with this uncomfrotability.
the fact that you want to leave, that that you're afraid of offensing someone is laughable, embarassing, laughable disgusting. Did you educate on how to do this. You taught us to go and change the world. Is'n't that what it says on the page? So why you all eating cake and chilling.
more helpful if you stayed and talked to you or went over to the librbary.
i would find it helpful if y'all got up together and walked over to support the students that support you. even when you continuously hurt us and take our credit away even through we pay for it.
hey students leave them let's go we the future.
cameraman is tal end of the line, talk about getting cake. "don't mind if I do" baby got fancy meeting cake. let's pass out some cake (let them eat cake) I think we should bring their cake.
we need extra hands too bring food. might want to grab and go bud. (stealing faculty food)
got their meeting food.

10 - students can leave, geoerge bridges can't leave. I think you can leave. I would like a guarantee before I leave. I can ask someone, there's no one in charge. I really don't think it will be a problem, but.
you call can leave and no harm will be done to you but by leaving you're showing the school you don't care about black and brown skin. If you want to leve go ahead but I do not think you should leave under any circumstances. this environemnt. it is your job to steand fr the students and I think it's irresponsible for oyu to leave but if you do schoose to leave no harm will be done to you.
where's my other phone? oh balls.

11 - we pay you (bret weinstein class ) you are your email. from the back

12 - squandering of human potential is disgusting. and racism squanders
it takes people who could be anything and puts them in society in service of their own stuff. I'm not about that. I am very much in favor of truth and equity. I do not believe that this () configuration is going to produce that. What it's going to produce is a temporary reversal of fortune that is going to come back to haunt them. I don;t want to see that happen. I am not acting in the interest of white people. My point, to students, for years and years and years has been you have to be careful because evolution itself has set you up to prefer people more closely related to you than people who are more distantly related to you. and that means we all have latent racism waiting to emerg if we do not confront it in ourselves. That message is about ending racism permanently.
What I keep being told is we know what you want we know what it means it's vile. and it's untrue.
i will organize with them. sorry to interrupt your class.

13 - you and wendy sat in bias training draftin an email targeting us. if it was your children you'd have been in here.
faculkty you know what the problem is. how to synthesize the information from all the words.
I'm getting paid for this because I'm on the GI bill, I'm on imperialist blood money.
you should have heard what he said earlier.
I've witnessed racism in other programs Tamiko, first of all I did not witness what happened, and I did the best I could.
yeah you just kept your mouth shut.
no what I did tamiko was work with you as often as possible in my program
well that didn't work cause I didn't feel comfortable and I didn't show
just keep going john
so there's other indicedents I observed, and I have brought them to the attention of the adminitration, and it's documented. some of those are in emaisl which are public docs which you can request second of all there is a posting on greener commons about segregated sessiona and there is a police investigation that occurred last year that involved a person of color. so I've observed this stuff, I've brought it to the attention, of the admin.
what have you done
what can you do
are you willing to testify?
yes, I'm willing to talk about my experience here. Ive brought it to the attention of the epople and I want to see those change made. I want to help. I don't want to teat down people I want to bring up people.
last year when the coming together series was being put togethr I said we needed trainings.
okay john (crowd talks over him)
as a faculty of color i need to address this issue, I think you're taking a lot of space. as a faculty member of color, you address and challenge me saying why didn't we as a union protect you when you --and you come to a person of color asking why they didn't meet your needs. so I refuse to listen to you and let you grandstand this meeting.
john points
get out, you're not hepful
george that's a prime example, he was in front of you, you were just holding him. if he was any closer I felt like he threatened her.shut the door.
I have heard that person say racist things....
someone said suggested faculty mandatory compenstency trainig -- vetoed cause it was illegal or whatever, suggested the people who go to that training said they had to sign a thing but that was vetoed cause for whatever reason that is also illegal. what about it being public knowledge that these people went to these trainings.
telling faculty to write down student suggestion. asking for illegal thigns.
"we just did your jobs for you"
it's being written down over here. Who are you?
students can we sit in silence and let them work. cause that's what they're getting paid for.
literal silence
may 20 2016 you released the video where they ripped down our flyers. we talked about all this a year ago. do you not remember.
most basic one was creating a book for the school about cultutral competence
number of us on the faculty team, union chair, john davies, bargaining team. stephen beck. who is the one who didn't want to come upstairs. full brrinaing team is here.we have in the contract what happens to those faculty. So it can be suspension all the way to firing, etc. so that's in the contract we support that if there's issues of racism, it should be used.
actions will be tooken,
grace wher are you , cynthia.
he wasn't breaking anything in the CBA. I didn't feel it was working. I don't see what we have is working.
Why isn't there a clause that you can't be hired here if you're racist. (no proof of racism)
the faculty will be white, cause those are the people that need culutral competency.
white folks don't understand racism. what I'm learning is, this is hard for a white person, but I'm learning to see what it's like for a student of color
I'm pretty sure a white person doesn't know what racism looks like.
cynthia had a problem with one of her teaching partners, but it was stillup to the administration to to implement it.
damn george. (peter in attendence)
sometime we have to defend colleeauges in grevience, o wouldn't say we defend them but we make usre the progressive discpline issues are followed. it's a duty-affair representation. anti-bias training, cultural comptency. lauri and grace spoke to this. it's not illegal to have people do that but the issue has to br brought to the table
issue a year ago teacher using power to harass
and a question if that should be required of faculty. there is a history of sometimes not having teachers take training, but we stood behind that issue and we encourage to follow
didn't you do it last year
not on this iasue
what's the diff between implicit bias and
appreciate you bringing your legit concerns.
students on hiring comittees
shifted statement to diversity and equity staement has produced better applications. ask questions aroudn commitment and diversity.
so these are some steps that I've taken about 1/3 of our hired faculty are poc. I appreciate demands.
we need to negotiate lets do it now
blackfoot nation. racism is conveyer belt.
only way to fight against racism is to fight in opposite direction faster than converyer belt.
these talks are great, but we need doable acts. anti racist work.
faculty and staff code of conduct?
why haven't administration fired people who have pattern of racist allegations, why haven't they got to the pont wher they need to be fired.
again we have due process, so the process is f tehre's an issue,
you contact me as chair, describe situation. I shared that with grievence comittee. We talked through what was the concer. and talked through possibel strategies. talking with faculty, problem solving,
academic advising was called in, was speakin to the deans. was discerned because he wasn't breaking the CBA there's nothing the administration could do. but there were several items the students were sying was out of line, so I left. Where's the accountability?
Disipline stage went to the administration to track.
still in progress.
but you can rush a case to hury up and kick out black trans students.
at least suspend them
so faculty ya'll don't even know what's going on.
call milkshake and chill.
yesterday you sat in a room of 400 students (now 400?)
hands george (thank you I apprecaite that)
didn't wendy and george sit in this training and draft and email, this training ain't gonna work. people gotta go.why is it taking so long to get rid of these racist ass white people.
where is the process at? Geroge: the process is broken.
if the process is broke, why did you tell us it's the only way that works?
we need to imrpvoe the studetn conduct process.
what about a faculty conduct process.
it's gota be fixed
what are you gonna do to change it?
hands!
You have me until may 26. You will have a response by may 26.
we gave you til may 26th last year. These are new demadnds
you forgot the old demands, how you gonna tell me these are new ones
you don't know what you're doing
what's your accountability if you don't. Youll resign if you don't get them
yelling over
george just got here 2 years ago, he's not the only problem.
guy quiets crowd, george thanks, guy tells george he's quiting him down he needs to stop talking. Bohmer in back grinning like an idiot.
what are you willing to sacrifice in order for shit to change?
who stepped in for cynthia?
sarah williams stepped in.
go back to george and don't say nothing.
I don't want no more of that bullshit. what are you gonna do real action?
peop[le need to be gone
i did contact the board of trustees. the deal we have with the board is they hold one person accountable and that's the president. they don't come in and start telling faculty and staff. so back to george
lawrences trial. appeal board and baord of trustees.
does the board know abou that case, (looking for blame, geoerge or andy)
why does evergreen have a history of pointing fingers at everyone?
people who got authority ain't doing shit. I'm confused. I'm not confused, y'all confused.
chandra, been here almost 20 years. I want to support what you're doing and I don't know what your demands are. can I get a copy of them? have you had black and brown students in your calss? Let me take a dramatic(?)
20 yeras faclty of color everyone can learn from you, this campus is hostile to people of color. I want to hear your experience. as you oook at the demands, wher can you identify with this?
the thing that effects me the most is that any student here, particualry sudentd of color that feel unsafe on campus amkes me wonder what I can do. what I can do is open my doors to you. if you feel unsafe, come to my house. it's not that big but come to my house. what I would also like to enourage students to feel and I would like faculty tos epak up because as individuals I've come to know them, if any stydent sfeels unsafe for any reason, come to our house. that's the one thing I can say to meet the demands immediately. The other demands that were there, (indicents of supposed racism) I cannot address..  (arron lawrence) I cannot address right now and I can barely say anything that would meet your legitimate demand of being answers, but I feel for you and I can offer.
admin take notes, we've talked abotu safe spaces, your faculty is havingto use their paychek to hosue sutendts they have to open their houses to students of color cause it's unsafe. we went to your house and I did not feel safe.
does it bother you that your fauclty have to open their homes for us to feel safe?
pointing out all these people here not peaking out are useless. you gonna reisignate today?
we don't trust you
I'm tired of being complacent, what are we gonna do
I had a very specific demands, wendy we talked about last nigth did you do them
1 was respond to every email
2 was investigate what happened with the 2 students
and I promised I will. I haven't had time today.
(jesus fucking crhist blue haired bitch)
we tell you this teacher is racist and he's still here.
(Pete Bohmer speaks!)
yesterday I was at both meetings and it was the most powerful things I've seen. I've been here 30 years and there's been some good change but there's such a way to go. good faith to be to say all charges will be dropped in all 3 cases. I think that'd be good faith. PEople say they can't deal with the law, I think that would be one really good ting as opposed to just words. I think a second thing would be the admin saying we're not going to call the ooly police or the sheriff (brings up andre and bryson) and I think something like that is gonna happen here unless we don't call the police. Calls for police to be unarmed.
can we nominate him for president.
